Certified Radiology Assistant
A Radiology Assistant is a medical professional who assists the Radiologists in applying different radiology diagnostic tools to patients, in a controlled manner so that the doctors can better diagnose the patients and treat them. Working under the supervision of Radiologists and Doctors, the assistant also helps in taking care of patients. The radiology assistant work in hospitals, clinics, nursing homes and so on. The profession of radiology assistant is suitable for both men and women. The person willing to do this job has to first complete some basic graduation in science faculty. First of all a formal training in all radiology diagnostic modalities has to be completed which may vary from twelve to eighteen months. Then a hands –on training for the Sonography and Doppler examination long with USG guided procedure is given. This again may vary from twelve to eighteen months.
Duties to be performed
There are many responsibilities of the radiology assistants. The main duties include:
- Helping the radiologist in different dealings with the patients
- Deals directly with the patients and make them aware of the radioactive rays they are supposed to be exposed to.
- Assuring that the images taken are appropriate and reflect the injured part.
- Giving written consent to the patients.

- Relaxing the patients from any anxieties.
